Once you’ve been cleared, you can collect your luggage and proceed to the customs area.
2. Ground transportation:-
There are several options for ground transportation from the airport to your final destination. Taxis are available outside the terminal, and you can negotiate the fare with the driver. It’s a good idea to agree on the price before you get into the taxi. You can also arrange for a transfer through your hotel or travel agent. ** If you are staying at Airport Planet Lodge, your transfer from and to the Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO) is FREE!**
3. Accommodations:-
There are several hotels near Kilimanjaro Airport, as well as in the nearby towns of Arusha and Moshi. If you haven’t already made arrangements, you can check with the airport information desk for recommendations and assistance with booking a room. 4. Currency exchange:-
If you need to exchange currency, there are several banks and exchange bureaus located within the airport terminal just after you clear customs. It’s a good idea to exchange a small amount of money at the airport to cover immediate expenses like transportation and food. However, most properties will accept payment in US $, or Euros in addition to the local currency i.e. Tanzanian Shillings.
5. Food and drink:-
There are several restaurants and cafes located in the airport terminal, serving a variety of local and international cuisine. You can also find shops selling snacks and beverages. Nearby Lodges offer fresh hot meals for the entire family if you have the time to sit and dine.
6. Shopping:-
There are several souvenir shops and stores selling local crafts, Tanzanite, and goods located in the airport terminal. It’s a great opportunity to pick up some unique gifts for friends and family back home.
7. Wi-Fi access:-
Kilimanjaro Airport offers free Wi-Fi for passengers, so you can stay connected while you wait for your flight.
8. Departing from the airport:-
When it’s time to depart, make sure you arrive at the airport with plenty of time to spare. Check-in counters typically open two hours before departure, and it’s recommended that you arrive at least three hours before your flight. After clearing security, you can relax in the departure lounge and enjoy the amenities before your flight.
